In August/September 2021, the Department of Health and Social Care ran a four nations consultation on expanding access to naloxone. The Taskforce submitted a response to this which you can read here. The Taskforce submission highlighted evidence of the extended availability of naloxone since the Lord Advocate’s statement of prosecution policy last year and highlighted the need to at least replicate the distribution facilitated under the current statement of prosecution policy and, preferably, go further and reclassify naloxone. The objective being that any person who may come into contact with a person who uses drugs should be able to carry naloxone
